About me

I'm originally from Ulsan, South Korea, but my childhood was in Houston, TX. As a teen, I enjoyed playing the violin and conquering Texas summers on golf courses. While working towards my Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin, I explored diverse fields by working for a biowearables and chemical engineering start-up, publishing in cellular research, volunteering and leading in public health awareness, and networking in an Asian Business student organization. During that time, my interest in computational biology became apparent, leading to a Master's in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on data analysis and machine learning.

I am now back in Houston, TX, furthering my interest as a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at Rice University with focus in bioinformatics/computational biology. In my free time, I like to boulder (indoors, because I have had enough of the Texas sun to last me a lifetime) and play with my cat, Kylo.
